Our future can always be glimpsed in our present. If the present looks one way, the future will probably look the same, since the future is made of the present. Therefore in order to safeguard our future, we have to make changes in the present. If we practice mindful consumption in our daily lives, we will be able to save ourselves and our planet. ~Thich Nhat Hanh from the World We Have
Are you living with joy in your heart, with gratitude for this gift of life, dear one? I know it’s so easy to fall into despair thinking about our shared economic, social and environmental woes. I feel down myself when perusing news of our day. “Four out of 5 U.S. adults struggle with joblessness, near-poverty or reliance on welfare for at least parts of their lives, a sign of deteriorating economic security and an elusive American dream”, according to an AP story in today’s news. In order to save ourselves and the world many are embracing ways of living simply, inexpensively, off the land, off the grid, off the treadmill. Embracing technologies which cheaply provide food, clothing, and energy. Many developed long ago.
My curiosity flowed in new directions attending workshops at a not so simply living fair. Hands on opportunities offered by those experienced with rural living and homesteading skills; including permaculture, back-to-the-land wisdom, alternative energy and other sustainable living methods. Can I live more simply, more in harmony with the earth, consuming less resources, and find joy? Why yes! And if I can do it I’m sure you can, too. Real simple to save energy by getting lower watt light bulbs, fill the freezer with bottles of water, biking to the grocery store…We all know this. Can we grow our own, save our seeds, share our tools, share our time and energy with each other. Breathing in, enjoying a beautiful moment of this life. Breathing out, consuming less for the benefit of all.
Energy is a expense for us despite the abundance of readily available free energy. Energy for warmth or cooling, to cook, to commute, and power our devices. Solar, wind, hydro, and bio-fuels are slowly becoming common. Do you know of existing and up-and-coming breakthrough energy technologies that are clean, renewable, affordable, reliable, easy to implement, safe, and legitimate? Pure Energy Systems (PES) Network, founded by Sterling Allan, is a wonderful resource for free energy technologies. The works of inventors and visionaries such as Moray, Ring, Reich, Tesla, Walter Russell and Viktor Schauberger, among others, are featured. Another resource to explore is former astronaut, Dr. Brian O’Leary’s free energy website.

It’s wonderful to realize that we are all in a family, we are all children of the Earth. We should take care of each other and we should take care of our environment, and this is possible with the practice of being together as a large family. A positive change in individual awareness will bring about a positive change in the collective awareness. Protecting the planet must be given the first priority. I hope you will take the time to sit down with each other, have tea with your friends and your family, and discuss these things. Invite Bodhisattva Earth Holder to sit and collaborate with you. Then make your decision and act to save our beautiful planet. Changing your way of living will bring you a lot of joy right away, and with your first mindful breath, healing will begin. ~Thich Nhat Hanh from the World We Have
The fair looked wonderful & I enjoyed learning abit about Dr. OLeary. What does Thich Nhat Hanh mean when he says “invite Bodhisattva Earth Holder to sit and collaborate with you.” Does he mean invite the Buddha?
I’m happy that you found a useful energy reference, Bruce. In the Lotus Sutra (a discourse on the oneness of all in nature) a special bodhisattva is named, Daranimdhara, or Earth Holder, who protects and preserves the Earth. May you be well and happy.
Powerfully written for its gentleness, and so true. Wonderful, inspiring images. Thanks for sharing:-)
I’m happy that the message rang true for you, Harula. Thank you for honoring me with your kindness.
Definitely seems like a great opportunity for some mindful living 🙂
Loved your post, I share many of your thoughts.
I’m happy to receive your kindness.
